Tae Kwon do is an individual activity in a very structured group.

BELTS YOU CAN EARN

There is a specific form – hyung – tul (there are what your patterns are called) for each belt you earn.

GUP RANKING (ranks below Black Belt)

WHITE – Beginner

YELLOW – Advanced beginner

GREEN - Advanced beginner

BLUE - Advanced

2nd BLUE –Advanced

1st BROWN – Advanced

2nd BROWN – Advanced

3rd BROWN – Advanced

4th BROWN – Advanced

RED – Sr. Advanced

RED/BLACK – Sr. Advanced

BLACK BELT (Recommended)

DAN/DEGREE RANKING (confirmed Black Belts)

1st Dan & Up

TESTING

Mr. Woodside and Mr. Mello hold the right to test groups or individuals as they deem appropriate.

Testing dates will be announced well in advance.

All belts are EARNED. They are awarded after the student becomes competent in execution of forms, techniques and sparring and has a firm grasp on Tae Kwon Do knowledge and passed a test in front of a panel of Black Belt judges. Additionally, the student must submit the Intent to Promote form signed by his/her teachers and parent/guardian.

Testing fees: $25 for each rank below Black Belt. Black Belt $100.00

REQUIRED PARTICIPATION

Community building is part of our Student Creed

All students must meet the following participation requirements in order to advance in rank:

• Average 2 classes per week and 2 Fight Nights per month
• Actively participate in school functions (not just one or 2 a year)
• Participate in our Community Service Program by attending and participating in charity fund raisers and martial arts demonstrations

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

All students are required to know all terms, definitions, and Tae Kwon Do history; they will be part of your belt testing.

When you think you ‘can’t’ that’s the time to dig deep and find that ‘extra’ you didn’t know you had.
